With more than 15 years of experience in adult internal medicine, Dr. Patel brings both extensive knowledge and a personal, compassionate approach to patient care.
He holds dual degrees as a Doctor of Pharmacy and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
Dr. Patel cares for a wide range of adult conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, and cardiac risk factors. He has a particular interest in weight management and preventive care, helping patients take proactive steps toward better long-term health.

Fluent in English and Gujarati, and conversational in Hindi, Dr. Patel enjoys connecting with patients from diverse backgrounds.
A longtime Desoto resident, he is actively involved in hospital leadership and community initiatives. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife and three sons, and sharing his passion for cars with fellow enthusiasts.
Physician Assistant – Internal Medicine & Urgent Care
Vivek Lakha, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in primary, family medicine, and urgent care. He earned his degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Christian Brothers University and has been practicing for more than four years.
Vivek chose internal medicine because of his passion for building long-term relationships with patients and developing personalized treatment plans that improve quality of life. He enjoys the challenge of managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, as well as guiding patients in preventive care to support long-term health.
His approach to care is patient-centered and built on trust. Vivek focuses on listening first, understanding each patient’s goals and concerns, and partnering with them through shared decision-making. He emphasizes prevention, education, and clear communication to help patients feel comfortable, informed, and empowered in their care.
Fluent in English and Gujarati, Vivek brings both cultural understanding and medical expertise to his work. His own experiences caring for loved ones with chronic illness have shaped his compassionate approach, reminding him of the importance of empathy, respect, and continuity of care.
Outside of the clinic, Vivek enjoys weightlifting, spending time outdoors, cooking, and exploring new recipes. Most importantly, he loves quality time with his wife, son, friends, and family. He is also active in local cultural gatherings and values the close-knit spirit of the Southaven community, where he feels privileged to care for patients across all stages of life.
